    Engaging Patients in Education

    As you know, patient education can shorten hospital stays, prevent readmissions, and improve outcomes. So how do you get patients to engage in these educational resources?

    Here are four simple tips we’ve received from hospital subscribers like you:

    1. Default inpatient televisions to the Newborn Channel. 
    2. Include a program schedule in every new patient admissions packet.  
    3. Use the Discharge Checklist provided to you to prescribe viewing for your patients from home at our password protected patient education websites. Be sure to add your hospital password before printing. 
    4. Order the FREE promotional posters and table tents to post in rooms, the cafeteria and hallways.

    Changes to Joint Commission's Breastfeeding Measures

    Important changes are coming to the Joint Commission’s Perinatal Care core measures on breastfeeding. As you know, the Joint Commission PC measure PC-05a, “exclusive breast milk feeding considering mother’s initial feeding plan” will be retired.   What does this mean for you?  Now more than ever, engaging pregnant mothers with prenatal education to inform them about the benefits of breastfeeding is key.
